What’s the most satisfying aspect of owning a business that you didn’t expect?

The people that we get to meet and interact with. Whether it’s the folks who are locally making a lot of the beverages. With some of those folks, getting to know them early on when they were just starting and getting to watch them succeed—that’s been awesome. The level of interaction with folks in the neighborhood too. All of that has had such a positive effect on our experience as owners. Robert of Propolis Brewing Company came in and was looking around, and he said he was considering starting a brewery making a beer with different herbs, spices and fruits, more so than hops. He was wondering if that was something that we would carry and we said it definitely would be. Eight or nine months later their beer came on the market. That’s a great example of seeing that relationship start, grow, and now they are getting into markets all over the States. Same with Reverent Nat’s. He was making cider out of his garage and we almost always have something of his on draft and in the beverage cooler. It’s so exciting to see him starting that way and now he’s doing so well.
